How Can I Join Jesus in His Mission?
You may understand that Jesus sends His followers, but you might still wonder:
What does that actually look like in my life?
You can begin simply.
Pray
Ask Jesus to show you the people around you who need Him.
Pray for your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and others God has placed in your life.
Ask Him for opportunities to serve and speak about Him.
Go
Jesus told His disciples to go.
That may mean taking a step toward someone instead of waiting for them to come to you.
Invite someone for coffee.
Visit someone who is lonely.
Offer practical help.
Start a conversation.
Be willing to go where Jesus leads.
Serve
Jesus' mission includes loving and serving people.
Look for practical needs around you.
Sometimes serving opens a door for a conversation about faith.
Speak
There are times when we need to actually talk about Jesus.
Tell people what you believe.
Share what Jesus has done in your life.
Open Scripture with someone who is asking questions.
You don't have to know everything. You can simply point people to Jesus.
Make Disciples
Jesus said:
“Go and make disciples.”Matthew 28:19
The goal is to help people know Jesus, follow Jesus, and eventually help others follow Him too.
This is where mission becomes multiplication.
One disciple helps another person follow Jesus, and that person can eventually help someone else.
Start Where You Are
Don't wait until you feel ready. Jesus has already sent you.
Look around you. Who has God placed in your life?
Pray for them. Love them. Serve them. Tell them about Jesus. Help them take a step toward Him.
Mission begins with Jesus, and it can begin right where you are.
