What Does It Mean to Say Yes to Jesus?

What Does It Mean to Say Yes to Jesus?

If you’ve said yes to Jesus, that’s a big step, and we’re really glad for you.

You might hear people describe this decision in different ways. Some say:

“I became a Christian.”

“I gave my life to Jesus.”

“I got saved.”

“I decided to follow Jesus.”

All of these mean the same thing: you chose to trust Jesus and begin a new life with Him.

But what does that really mean?
What changes?
What stays the same?

This guide will help answer those questions.

What Does Following Jesus Mean?

Following Jesus means learning to live the way He lived. It means growing to become more like Him over time.

So who is Jesus, and why would we want to follow Him?

Why Do We Need Jesus?

The Bible tells us that God created the world and created people to live close to Him. He wanted us to enjoy life and take care of what He made. But people made choices that broke their relationship with God. The Bible calls this sin. Sin caused separation between people and God.

What Did Jesus Do?

Because God loves us so much, He sent His Son, Jesus, into the world. Jesus lived on earth for about 33 years. During that time, He showed us how to love God and love people. He lived a perfect life, then chose to die on a cross to fix the separation between us and God. After that, He rose from the dead. Jesus did this so we could be forgiven and brought back into a relationship with God.

Why Would Jesus Do That?

Jesus explained it this way: “This is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not be lost but will have eternal life. God sent His Son not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.”  John 3:16–17

God loves you so much that he sent his only Son, Jesus. Jesus died so you could be forgiven, made new, and become part of God’s family forever. That kind of love is why many people choose to say yes to Jesus.
