Love Like Jesus

Learning to Love Like Jesus

Jesus showed love through how He treated people, made them feel, and how His actions and words fulfilled God’s purpose. Following Him means learning to love others the way He did.

A Lesson in Humility and Welcome

Jesus’ followers argued about who would be the greatest. He used a child to teach them an important lesson: true greatness comes from humility and welcoming others.

“Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.” – Luke 9:46-48 NIV

Jesus explained that the person who humbly serves others is the greatest in God’s eyes.

Jesus’ Example of Humble Service

Jesus, who is God, came as a baby to a humble family in a small village. When he grew up, He didn’t boss His followers around. Instead, He patiently led them and looked for ways to meet their needs.

By serving others quietly and consistently, we reflect God’s perspective that everyone is equal and made in His image. Service also points us to God as the One we ultimately serve.

Redefining Greatness

The world defines greatness by influence, power, or comfort. Jesus’ version of greatness is different: it’s focused on raising others up through humility, hospitality, service, forgiveness, generosity, and sharing God’s love.
