What is Generosity?

What Is Generosity?

Generosity means sharing what you have to help someone else. It’s simple but powerful. It’s not just about money; it can include your time, skills, and other resources.

Why Be Generous?

John the Baptist said,
“…Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” Luke 3:11 NIV
Generosity opens our hearts and makes room for Jesus.

How to Be Generous?

Ask, “What do I need?”
God wants us to enjoy what we have, but He calls us to share what belongs to Him.

Ask, “What do I have to share?”
Look at your time, skills, or money. Anything you have can bless someone else.

Ask, “What does my community need?”
Find ways to help people around you. Maybe your neighbor needs support, or a local food bank or church needs volunteers. Generosity can be creative and practical.

Follow Jesus’ Example

Jesus was generous, and He invites us to live like Him. By giving of what we have and helping others, we make a real difference in the world.

What Is Noticing and Meeting Needs?

Jesus often noticed the needs of people around Him. Once He saw a need, He used what He had to meet it. As followers of Jesus, we’re called to live other-focused lives. Serving others shows God’s love and helps people experience His care. Even small acts, like listening or encouraging someone, matter.

How Can We Meet Needs?

Use what you have.
Give your time, skills, or resources to help others.

Ask God for help.
Some needs are bigger than what we can do alone. Pray for God’s guidance and power.

Follow Jesus’ example.
Jesus washed His disciples’ feet to show humility and service.
